I have always wondered, "What is the significance of the seal on one's heart and arm?" This song comes from Song of Solomon 8:6-7
"Place me like a seal over your heart,
like a seal on your arm;for love is as strong as death,
its jealousy unyielding as the grave.
It burns like blazing fire,
like a mighty flame.
Many waters cannot quench love;
rivers cannot sweep it away."
One of the definitions of a seal in the dictionary is a mark, sign, symbol, or the like, serving as visible evidence of something.
1 Corinthians 1:21-22 says,
"Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come."
So, when I set a seal upon my heart and upon my arm, it is like saying, "I belong to Christ." I am making everyone fully aware that my first true love,. God, is relentlessly pursuing me. The reason why the seal is placed two places is because when I place the seal upon my heart, it is telling God that I am His, and it is a constant thing that I see. But the world does not see my heart visibly, and that is where the seal on my arm comes in. When we set a seal of God's ownership on our arms, it is an outward marking of God's ownership in my life. It tells everyone that I belong to Him, and His love is unquenchable, and it will never go away.
